This afternoon, I had the pleasure of speaking with long-time personal friend, Bill Mathes, owner and founder of 21st Tactical. What started as a small Airsoft and training shop in Michigan has now grown into one of the most innovative and revolutionary training and tactical establishments in the United States.
TacSim is currently working on vast magazine spreads to cover all of the progress and new equipment to hit the streets from the minds of those employed with 21st Tactical. But this afternoon—I was able to get a little taste of what’s to come.
21st Tactical is hard at work pushing Airsoft as one of the most cost-effective and realistic training tools for urban and close-quarters combat on the market. They are currently working with the U.S. State Department in making Airsoft a standard tool when training our allied countries in counter-terrorism and counter-drug operations. The company has already been successful implementing Airsoft training weapons into real-world training plans in not only the Middle East, but South America as well. It is safe to say that 21st Tactical has a wide global reach.

21st Tactical has also made immense progress when it comes to our very own U.S. Army. Not only has the company been running around the clock aiding in pre-deployment train-ups at Fort Bragg, but they have had their signature bio-degradable training ammunition (BB’s) blessed by the Fort Bragg Environmental Agency as the only BB approved for use on any Army installation.
Be sure to check out TacSim’s fall issue (in stores this November) for the full story on all of the projects and progress 21st Tactical has been making throughout the tactical community.
